Recently over on Mastodon I saw a post for something called Blaugust – a month long event to encourage people to blog more. I haven’t been blogging at all in a very long time, but reading about this has pushed me to stop thinking about doing it and actually start something up.
Unfortunately as the name suggests, Blaugust happens in the month of August – the first two weeks of which I will be at Pennsic, which is not exactly a place conducive to writing content. I want to be doing things not staring at my phone or tablet screen. But that’s ok. I’m starting something now and hopefully I will keep with it.
So what can you expect from my efforts to blog? Well, I play a lot of World of Warcraft, so probably some of that. I am a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism – it’s a big and important part of my life, so probably a fair bit about that. And plenty of general musings and stories about my day to day doings.
I still have a long dormant Tumblr, and an even longer dormant blog on Dreamwidth . . . that was originally on LiveJournal. I am An Old, especially in internet years. But this go around I feel like using my own website, this domain I’ve owned for nearly 20 years and done nothing with. It’s my space, why not use it? I kind of hate WordPress but it’s here, it comes with my hosting plan, I found a theme I like. So. I’m settling in. We’ll see how it goes.
